Patent Attorney
Leigh-Anne is a UK and European Patent Attorney and joined Greaves Brewster in 2020 from another private practice firm. Leigh-Anne holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Bath and has a special interest in nanotechnology. Her interdisciplinary research combined acoustic physics, nanoscience, semiconductor and porous material science, in which she fabricated bulk acoustic wave filters for high frequency applications. She is a member of the Institute of Physics.
During an industrial research placement with a multinational printing and digital document company, Leigh-Anne became the lead inventor for an idea relating to electro-static charges with photocopiers, which was subsequently patented in the US. This started her interest in patents.
Leigh-Anne has worked on various technologies in fields such as physics, acoustics, semiconductors, explosive charges, electronics/software, paint products and printing for a range of clients, from sole inventors to multinational corporations. In addition to prosecution in the UK and Europe, she has experience co-ordinating foreign filings and prosecution across the globe for large patent portfolios. She particularly enjoys working with Universities and her experience in research has given her an invaluable perspective from the inventor’s point of view.
Leigh-Anne also has experience of designs, both in obtaining registrations and providing clearance searches and freedom to operate opinions. Leigh-Anne has considerable experience of working with GUI designs.
